Kym Cotton is my sister-in-law. We were more like sisters since she started dating my brother at the age of 14.
We built houses next door to each other, raised our children together and shared so much more throughout the years.
In March of 2015 Kym was diagnosed with ALS.
Kym was proud to participate in our first walk in 2015 with all her family and friends by her side. She was so thrilled that our team Kym’s Soldiers was the top fundraiser that year and she cut the ribbon in the opening ceremony..
Kym fought her battle with dignity and grace. She is the most courageous woman I’ve known.
Sadly Kym passed away December 4, 2015. I promised her I would never give up and would continue to raise money to find a cure for ALS so that no other family would have to go through what we did.

Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease though support is bringing researchers closer to an answer. In the mean time it costs an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or join a walk today.
